Dear Diary: You say tomato, I say netcast.

Alright, since I usually like to tell people what I like to watch/listen/read/whatever I though, why not kick off the subsequent posts by talking about what is basically the hopeful replacement of both television and radio: netcasts.

Due to me, in the past, being a Techtv fan(I still am), I was very excited when Leo Laporte started to podcast(netcast) so that the fans of Techtv could get their fix of technology news, and our favorite personalities. Anyway, on with the show.

My list of Netcasts that I listen to and why:

  • · The Bungie Studios Podcast: I listen to the BSP due to me being a Bungie Studios fan, and not just a fan of Halo. The first time I really saw the Bungie name was in the early nineties with Gnop!, but the first time I really played one of their games was in 1992(?) with the release of Pathways into Darkness, and then in the next year, Marathon.
  • · Daily Giz Wiz: I really don’t listen to this podcast due to me not really seeing much in the shows. Though, I should get to listening to the ones I can.
  • · FLOSS Weekly: I listen to this because I really like to listen about Open Source projects and what is going on with them.
  • · Jumping Monkeys: I really don’t listen to this podcast, though Kacie does. I guess her nagging made me do it.
  • · Leo Laporte-The Tech Guy: Even though I am in the IRC Chat Room, and I actually listen to the show live on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, I sometimes need to listen to something again and I want to actually listen to the callers without having to listen to KFI’s feed.
  • · Macbreak Weekly: I listen to this one because it is about Mac Products. Did you expect anymore?
  • · Munchcast: Though, I do listen to it live after The Tech Guy, I sometimes have to do something around the house when it is on, or I get bored of it and I jump on my Xbox.
  • · net@night: Reason: Amber Mac.
  • · Security Now: I like to laugh and drink to how many times Gibson promotes his own products, and I also like to listen to all of the vulnerabilities in Windows.
  • · This Week in Tech: It’s basically The Screen Savers, but in a talk show format. What more could a geek want?
  • · Windows Weekly: Wait, what? Me listening to a Windows podcast with the biggest Microsoft **** sucker on it? What’s with that? Well, sometimes I like to listen to it to scream out at the top of my lungs due to Thurrott’s FUD.
  • · 1UP Show/Yours/Retronauts: I listen to these 1UP.com podcasts due to the reason of that they are the only gaming website that doesn’t put ads everywhere and accept money from publishers to give them good scores. Oh, and because the fights on it are hilarious.

The podcasts that I used to watch/listen to are Diggnation, Systm, thebroken, The Totally Rad Show, DL.TV, and CrankyGeeks. I stopped listening to the Revision3 shows due to them turning into pop culture shows, and falling in with the same crowd G4tv tries to reach. I stopped watching DL.TV and CrankyGeeks due to the downloads taking more than 12 hours for each show.
